The history of the production of this type of the dog is lost in the past times. At first it was a dog bred for hunting and royalty entertainment. It is known that at first there were two different kind of that breed. One was created for a desert climate and had little fur; the other – for the mountains - had thick fur. Then they were interbred and the result of this we can see now. Afghan hound breeders will usually sponsor dog rescues in their areas.
